Frequently asked questions
What does one-in-N mean?
It states the horizontal distance needed for one unit of rise, for example 1 in 20 means 1 unit of rise per 20 units of run.
Can I enter downhill slopes?
Yes. A negative rise produces a negative grade, and the angle is reported below the horizontal.
Limits and interpretation
- The model uses a straight-line slope and ignores the curved or irregular path a real route may follow.
- The one-in-N value is rounded to two decimal places, so small grades can show coarse ratios.
