About this calculator

This grade calculator combines course scores, weights, percentages, or points to estimate an overall grade.

Formula notes

Weighted average = sum of score × weight divided by the sum of weights; points mode also accounts for each maximum score.

Worked examples

Example: equal scores of 80% and 100% produce an overall grade of 90%.
Scores of 88% and 94% with equal weights produce a 91% average.

Can I mix percentages and points?

Use one grading mode at a time so that every entered value has a consistent meaning and maximum.

Why is a weighted grade different from a simple average?

A weighted grade gives more influence to items with larger weights, such as a final exam or a major project.

Limits and interpretation

The calculator follows the selected grading mode and cannot infer hidden extra credit, dropped scores, or a school's special rounding policy.
