About this calculator

This sleep-cycle clock works backward from a desired wake time or forward from a bedtime using configurable sleep latency and cycle lengths.

Formula notes

first completion = target time +/- (sleep latency + first cycle); each further option adds or subtracts the following-cycle length, wrapping across midnight.

Worked examples

  1. Example: for a 07:00 wake time, 15 minutes to fall asleep, and 90-minute cycles, the six displayed bedtimes run from 21:45 through 05:15.
  2. Starting bedtime at 22:30 with 15 minutes of sleep latency and 90-minute cycles gives candidate wake times from 00:15 through 07:45.
