Formula notes

unit price = total cost / (package count x quantity per package) after converting both products to the chosen basis.

Worked examples

1. Example: 2 x 500 g packages for 8.00 gives 0.008 per gram, while 1 kg for 7.50 gives 0.0075 per gram, so product 2 is cheaper.
2. A 24-pack for 12.00 is 0.50 per item, while two 12-packs for 6.50 each are 0.5417 per item, so the 24-pack is cheaper.
