This fuel consumption calculator computes L/100km or MPG from distance driven and fuel used.
Everyday life
Fuel Consumption Calculator
Estimate fuel use and trip cost from distance and fuel amount.

About this calculator
Formula notes
L/100km = fuel liters × 100 / distance km; MPG = miles / gallons.
Worked examples
- Example: 8 L over 100 km is 8.0 L/100km; 300 miles on 10 gallons is 30 MPG.
- Using 42 L over 600 km gives 7.0 L/100 km, equivalent to roughly 33.6 US mpg.
How to use it
- Enter the distance traveled.
- Enter the fuel consumed for that distance.
- Read consumption in your preferred unit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I measure fuel used accurately?
Fill the tank, drive, then refill — the refill amount is the fuel used.
Lower L/100km is better, right?
Yes, it means fewer liters per distance; for MPG, higher is better.
Limits and interpretation
- A single fill can be distorted by pump shutoff, tank angle, odometer error, or incomplete refuelling.
- Traffic, speed, temperature, tyres, load, terrain, and driving style can make future consumption differ from the measured average.
