Formula notes

1 L = 1000 mL; 1 US gallon = 3.78541 L; 1 US cup = 236.588 mL; 1 fl oz = 29.5735 mL.

Worked examples

2. A 3.0 US gallon container holds about 11.356 L, while 3.0 imperial gallons would be about 13.638 L.
