About this calculator

This temperature converter switches between Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and other supported temperature scales.

Formula notes

Common conversions include C = (F - 32) x 5/9, F = C x 9/5 + 32, and K = C + 273.15.

Worked examples

  1. Example: 25 C equals 77 F and 298.15 K.
  2. A laboratory temperature of 25 C equals 77 F and 298.15 K.

How to use it

  1. Enter the temperature value you know.
  2. Choose the source and target units.
  3. Read the converted result immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Why do science contexts prefer Kelvin?

Kelvin is an absolute scale, which is convenient for many scientific formulas.

Is a 10 C temperature change equal to 50 F?

No. A 10 C interval equals an 18 F interval; the 32-degree offset applies only to absolute readings.

Limits and interpretation

  • Temperature scales include offsets, so converting a temperature difference is not always the same as converting an absolute reading.
  • Values below absolute zero are physically invalid even if a raw arithmetic conversion can be written.
